The National Theater Festival 2011

2011 edition National Theater Festival (FNT), which takes place in Bucharest, between October 28 and November 6, has as a few words that belong to one of the most important playwrights of the world, Anton Pavlovici Cehov. Under his sign, the interval subjected to selection (the 2010-2011 season), as well, because last year marked a century and a half since the birth of the writer.
It is also one of the reasons why the section entitled "Focus" focuses on the personality and creation of director Andrei Serban, an internationally renowned artist and author, in recent years, of several shows inspired, directly or indirectly, from the Czech universe. To these are added a remarkable number of very diverse productions in style and ideology, signed by both directors of unanimously recognized value, as well as by young stage directors at the beginning of their career.

All these productions materialize, each in its own way, the attempt of the Romanian theater today to answer the questions that concern the universal man always.
The grouping of the shows by sections aims to highlight some of the tendencies of the present indigenous scene, also offering the spectator the possibility to orient his choice more quickly, according to interests and preferences.

The festival organizers are The Theater Union of Romania - UNITER, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Bucharest City Hall through ArCuB - Center for Cultural Projects of the City Hall of Bucharest and the General Council of Bucharest, co-organizer of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Artistic director and sole selector of the 2011 edition is the theater critic Alice Georgescu, and the executive director is Aura Corbeanu, vice president of UNITER.
The motto of this year's edition of the National Theater Festival belongs, of course, to A. P. Chekhov and is: "Man, this strange animal ..."
