Child development experts say that at 5-6 years old, children should be able to pay attention to a pregnancy for four minutes more than their age. Therefore, they should be able to keep their attention for about 20-30 minutes, even more, depending on the action. Pay attention to be part of it

Your child pays attention to the things that interest him and to the actions that please him. Most children will not be able to keep an eye on an action they do not like, they are children who can build a whole hour of a piece of Lego and cannot stand for a few minutes when it comes to writing sticks. This is where your creativity and the transformation of things you don't like into more fun activities for him come into play.

Parents' attention is often divided into dozens of things they have to solve, both at home and at work, and forget that little ones need the full attention of parents for only a few minutes a day. Remove the things that distract him

If the child has trouble keeping their attention when doing their homework, parents should notice what is distracting them. We are not just talking about the TV that is on while he is writing, but also about the physical state that might distract him.

Is he tired? Is he hungry? These states may prevent him from focusing. Moreover, we as adults, it is difficult for us to be careful or to yield when we are tired, so do not ask the child to start homework assignments, leave them for rest and prepare a snack. Choose a healthy snack that does not contain sugar or unhealthy fats that can affect your mood.

If we are talking about brothers, who are distracted from each other by themes, make sure they work in separate rooms so that they can focus better.

Make sure the tasks you give are not too heavy for him

Children immediately fly their mind to other things if the task they are given seems too heavy. If they cannot understand what to do they will not be able to concentrate, so you should make sure that you have explained exactly what to do and that the task is appropriate for his age and can be fulfilled with the information acquired until then. .

Even when it is not about topics, but about other actions, adult expression misleads children. For example, "clean up in your room" actually means more actions, it takes longer and the child may start cleaning and lose interest in a short time. Segment the task and start by telling her to "tighten the toys on the carpet" then return in 10-15 minutes and give her a new task in this area.

One of the very important factors regarding the attention of the children is the short breaks. The mind of children should not always be busy and overloaded. It is well known that at a young age children learn very quickly, their mind is like a sponge that is constantly absorbing information, but that does not mean they should always be bombarded with new information, new tasks and extracurricular activities.

Give the baby a break to relax. The 5-6 year olds can't focus on the same thing for too long, the average being about 40 minutes, so after that time you should take a break. The most effective way to relax the mind and body is movement.

Do some exercises together or give up the music and take a short break. Opt for breaks that do not include your TV or computer game.

Is Attention Problem Synonymous with ADHD?

It also happens that children have attention problems that cannot be solved by simple strategies, such as those described above. An alarm signal for parents is represented by the inability of the child of 4-5 years to keep his attention on a thing or an action for more than three minutes.

But we should not rush to diagnose a child with attention deficit disorder (ADHD) and even less with medication. A first step when you notice that the baby is hyperactive, impulsive and that he cannot concentrate on an action for more than minutes is to consult a therapist specialized in pediatric psychology.
